Horrific video showed the moment a Texas home exploded in a ritzy neighborhood - but miraculously the owners made it out alive.

The Austin Fire Department rushed to the scene at 11.23am Sundayafter thetwo-story property exploded.

Six people were injured and 24 properties in the area suffered damage but miraculously, no one was killed.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation. The owners of the home, Sara and Keith Felix, thankfully made it out alive. Keith sustained 'burns on a large part of his body,' his wife wrote on Facebook.

'Yes it was our new house that blew up. Keith is in the hospital I am trying to get to him. The girls are safe. We have a place to stay because we haven’t moved yet,' Sara stated.

Suddenly, large orange flames shot up into the sky as the entire home disappeared.

The fiery blast was so powerful that residents 20 miles away in Georgetown reported hearing the sonic boom.

Other footage showed the horrid aftermath of the couple's home completely destroyed. The AustinFire Department extricated several people from the rubble.

Along with Sara and Keith, two people from the house next door and two firefighters who responded to the scene suffered injuries.

One firefighter was treated at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Austin County EMS public information officer Shannon Koesterer said the victims have suffered 'anything from burns to fractures to the explosion.'

The fire department identified the impacted homes as 10410 and 10412 on Double Spur Loop in the northern Austin neighborhood.

Division Chief of the Austin Fire Department Wayne Parrishdescribed the devastation he witnessed at the scene.

'When we arrived on scene, they found a two-story home that looked like it had suffered an explosion. It was leveled to the ground,' Parrish told a press conference.

'A neighboring house had also suffered severe collapse damage. Initial reports also indicated that there was a vehicle fire at the address of the exploded home.'

Austin Fire Department images showed utter carnage in the wake of the explosion, with the home completely obliterated by the blast.

The property was left a shell comprising shards of wooden beams and charred belongings scattered across the grassy plot of land.

A fundraiser has collected more than $28,000 to help support the Felix's through this challenging time.

Although Sara appreciates the help and generosity from her community, she recognized how the dangerous blast has impacted more than just her family.

'The community was damaged by this not just us. It is scary how big of an accident it was,' she wrote.

'I know a lot of people reached out and I thank you for the love and support. It is hard for me to take help sometime and the outpouring of concern for my family has been so wonderful,' she continued.

Sara said their two daughters, who were not involved in the explosion, are being looked after by a 'nurturing bunch of moms' while she stays by her husband's side in the hospital.

'We hadn’t moved in so the girls are at the current house. Cheeto and everyone is fine.

'Keith is stable and is through surgery. He has burns on a large percentage of his body, but he is recovering. We can do this. Thank you all.'

The leafy neighborhood backs onto the stunning greenbelt around Yucca Mountain and Clayton's Crossing.

Single-family houses on the street sell for around $800,000 to $1 million, according to Zillow.

Travis County Fire Marshal is leading the investigation into what caused the mystery blast. Gas companies also attended the scene.
